Out for a pleasure drive today and suddenly we were following 75 Tractors on a Ride from Dunedin to Glen Huron (for Lunch) then onto Fairgrounds in Collingwood for a Memorial Service for
Jim Adam who died accidentally a couple of months ago. We did not know anyone but we sat and had lunch with some Farmers who talked about Jim Adam who had started this ride several years ago and they were going to continue having the ride every year in his memory. We had an amazing adventure today quite by accident!!
Listen also to the song below about a guy wanting to take his girl for a ride on a Green Tractor.

Wasaga Beach, have a look at #3 answer. We Want To Know...what's up for summer??

Gleaned from http://stacys101list.blogspot.ca

Questions

1.) Now that it is officially summer, what season is your favorite and why?
2.) What does summer look like in your house? Sound like?
3.) Recount a summer memory from your childhood.
4.) Do you have fourth of July plans? (If not in the U.S. what are you doing this weekend?)
5.) Does it get super hot where you are in the summer and how do you deal with it?
Answers:
1.) Now that it is officially summer, what season is your favorite and why?
Summer is my favorite mostly cuz I like the sunshine.  I hate winter and the cold...but I like the look of the snow, but when winter drags way into Spring, I hate it.  Spring is okay if it's not always raining and muddy like, I hate the smell of spring grass...LOL and Fall, well it would be my second choice just because of the colors!

2.) What does summer look like in your house? Sound like?
Uumm...I don't know - in the house you know it's summer cuz of the humming of the air conditioner.  You can tell it's summer cuz Maddy is home from school and Tanner is usually cranky cuz he doesn't like the heat!
3.) Recount a summer memory from your childhood.
When we were younger, our family and my uncle and his family would always go on a summer vacation together.  I remember going to La Ronde in Montreal but I really enjoyed our trip to Wasaga Beach.  The drive was long and with 7 kids, I'm sure the parents thought it was long too...but it was the greatest place for these country bumpkins who had never been to Disney before.  We swam in the Georgian Bay and it was crystal clear blue water that looked like the ocean and on pamphlets for exotic places.  They had a waterpark right down at the beach - they had little strip malls where I bought a Billabong bikini.  It was a great vacation!
4.) Do you have fourth of July plans? (If not in the U.S. what are you doing this weekend?)
In Canada, we had our festivities this past weekend with Canada Day.  Our community celebrated with a community BBQ, parade, flag raising ceremony, Ray's Reptiles, dancing and of course, a spectacular fireworks show!
5.) Does it get super hot where you are in the summer and how do you deal with it?
Last week was disgusting.  It was hot but the humidity added to it was unbearable.  I am one to love heat.  I love having a heater going on my legs cuz the air conditioned office is way too chilly for me...but to be out in the weather and have the high humidity, I feel like I can't breathe.  Usually we have warmer temps but so far this year, it's been sorta like a yo-yo effect...we get nice weather then we get stupid hot weather then we get rain...
How do I deal with it...I just stay indoors, honestly!  My kids are both sweaters and Tanner does not like the heat, so it's just safer for us to stay in during those hot, humid days!

Wasaga Beach ..Breakfast at the Beach July 11th ...Tall Ships Are Coming

NEXT BREAKFAST AT THE BEACH
Speaker –David Brunelle, Wasaga Under Siege 1812, Local Heritage & Community Partnerships
The Networking Committee for the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the speaker for our next ‘Breakfast at the Beach’ on Thursday July 11th at 7:00am-8:30am will be Dave Brunelle, Project Director Southern Georgian Bay War of 1812 Bicentennial Committee. The breakfast will be held at Wasaga Sands Golf Club, 10 Club Court, Wasaga Beach.
2013 will not only mark the 11th year that Wasaga under Siege has been entertaining and promoting heritage in the Wasaga Beach area, but it also marks the 2nd year of the 1812 Bicentennial. Dave will be informing the business community of the Bicentennial events taking place over the August 16th-18th week-end and the impact that these events have on the business community. The TALL SHIPS will be returning to the shores of Nottawasaga Bay as part of Wasaga under Siege 2013; they will be sailing past Beach Area 1&2 on the Friday evening. Wasaga under Siege “A War of 1812 Experience” allows the local community the opportunity to come together and commemorate its rich local history and in turn creates long-lasting sustainable community bonds through the promotion and preservation of local history. Wasaga under Siege brings culture and heritage alive in the Town of Wasaga Beach and its surrounding communities and brings thousands of tourists to the area each year.
Dave Brunelle is contracted as the Project Director for the Southern Georgian Bay War of 1812 Bicentennial Committee through the Ministry of Tourism and currently planning capital and special events for our region for 2012 to 2015. Dave is a certified occasional teacher with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School board and the Simcoe County School. He graduated from the University of Waterloo St. Jerome’s College, with a BA in history and attended teachers college at the University of Ottawa. He is also involved with living history and founded and operates the Historic Military Establishment of Upper Canada which is a not-for-profit registered charity.
The Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Networking Committee are delighted to welcome Dave as our speaker for what we believe will be a very interesting and informative talk on the Bicentennial and the Tall Ships.
To confirm your attendance for this breakfast and to obtain more information, contact Trudie McCrea at the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce at 705-429-2247.
